Designed by Henry Hohauser and built in l938, the hotel is a landmark on the corner of Collins and 10th in the center of South Beach clubs and restaurants. The lobby is intimate, with stylized Art Deco furniture, carpet, and tile, a large mural depicts the Everglades. An outdoor verandah with ceiling fans and sitting area is a great location for people watching. Guests primarily include leisure travelers. The hotel offers in-room massage and spa services, an outdoor-jetted splash pool surrounded by a garden courtyard with bubbling fountain, and complimentary Continental breakfast. With a little advance notice, the front desk can often arrange VIP access for its guests to area clubs such as Prive, Pearl, and Crobar, though asking early in the day is essential.
