Stylish - but not trendy, the Tides offers unique, exclusive, and luxurious accommodations, overlooking the beach. Quieter than most hotels in South Beach, the Tides caters to a more upscale, mature clientele and its guests often include celebrities, entertainment and fashion industry execs. Still, this hotel is located on Ocean Drive, and guests will find themselves in the middle of it all. The Tides feature terrazzo floors and streamlined ocean liner details that includes portholes. The décor is simple, elegant, and stylish, without going to the odd extremes typical of other "celebrity hotels". The staff delivers exceptional service, without being intrusive or pretentious.
The Tides has 45 oversized guestrooms, each with a view of the ocean and a telescope for people watching - an activity that could become habit-forming. Rooms have dark beige carpeting and all-white bedding. Upscale amenities include DVD players, three dual-line telephones (including one cordless and one in the bathroom), bathrobes and slippers. The bathroom vanity areas provide generous storage space. The Tides has a wonderful, rooftop pool area, with poolside attendants and a poolside bar serving up a nice choice of beverages.
